Communication is the cornerstone of good relationships and at St Mary MacKillop we endeavour to keep our community informed about what is happening in the school, classroom and with individual children.
Therefore we use a number of communication platforms to maintain this flow of information.
In 2022 we have streamlined the communication platforms we use to make it easier for parents.
All whole school communication including the delivery of our Newsletter is via Operoo (formerly Caremonkey) while classroom communication is via Seesaw.
At St Mary MacKillop CPS we use the Operoo App as a way of managing student medical details and excursion and other permission notes as well as delivering information about whole school events and important messages.
Operoo is a health and safety system that automatically keeps medical and emergency details up to date for us. It makes these important details instantly available to teachers and other authorized staff on their mobile devices in an emergency so they know who to call, what to do, or what to tell an ambulance paramedic. CareMonkey automates the permission and consent form process too and can collect any other information.
Seesaw is a platform for student and family engagement that our Teachers use to empower our children to “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. This can then be shared with families so parents can see how their child is progressing and what they are doing in class. Teachers can also use Seesaw to communicate directly with each parent in their class.
The school also produces a Newsletter every fortnight on a Friday. The Newsletter holds a vast amount of information about the school, reports of recent events and what is happening in the coming weeks. The newsletter is in a digital format and contains photo galleries and videos of school events and children’s work. Our newsletter is only shared with our families via the Operoo App.
Our newsletter is digital and contains videos and photo galleries as well as information from Fr Charles and the Parish. Our newsletter is a private newsletter and will not be loaded tour website.
